A skateboard prodigy on the east coast at a young age - there is a story that Bucky started skateboarding after his bike was stolen. Sure, but there was a shopkeeper in Baltimore, named Andy, who liked Bucky. He gave him products and made skateboarding generally affordable for him. Bucky participated in amateur competitions and performed well. His profile rose to a point where Tony Hawk sent him a groundbreaking invitation to visit him in Southern California in 1989.

The 1990 release of what became known as the Bucky's STADIUM model was one of the graphics designed entirely by Sean Cliver during his three years at Powell Peralta. The background story behind the unusual baseball-themed image has little to do with Bucky's interest in or his ability to actually play baseball.

Not only was Bucky known as a nice, sympathetic man, Sean also knew he was from Baltimore. At that time, the Baltimore Orioles were experiencing a revival, as their new stadium (Camden Yards) was built while Cal Ripken, Jr., was doing his best to play more baseball games in a row (endally 2632) than anyone would have thought possible. Sean saw this as an opportunity for Bucky Lasek, the nice guy people liked, to have a skateboard image with a lot of those people he liked on his board. BOOM!

Nostalgic notes from the eidetic memory of Jim Fitzpatrick

Powell-Peralta reissued construction

The reissued decks of Powell-Peralta are accurate reproductions of their counterparts from the 1980s, with the original Pro graphics and form, the upper graphic logo and the concave spoon nose. They are manufactured by our partners in Mexico or in our Ventura skateboard factory, which is still run by a few of the same craftsmen who originally made them
